Christmas at the coalface: Who'd work on December 25th?
I'm from the countryside, and was really into outdoors things like fishing, so our presents were always things like skateboards and bikes. I think I probably spoil my kids but if you can, you do. I definitely spoil my wife I'd better! Neil Fox, 46, Magic FM DJ When I arrived at Magic two years ago, I don't think they expected me to work on Christmas Day. When I assumed I would be, they said: "What... seriously?" Some of the other guys record their Christmas Day shows, but because I'm doing it and I'm, you know, the breakfast show jock, I think it has put pressure on others to do their shows live. One hour of the programme, from 11am to midday, will be a Great Ormond Street hour; the hospital is the station's chosen charity for the year. I've been down to speak to the kids and the parents and nurses, and I'll play their favourite songs.
Delbarton edges MoBeard in thriller
In a goaltending duel worthy of Martin Brodeur, Delbarton's top-ranked hockey team defeated No. 13 Morristown Beard 2-0 on Friday night to advance to the state semifinals. The Green Wave will face No. 5 Bishop Eustace on March 15 at 2 p.m. at Mennen Arena in Morris Township. From The Star-Ledger: Delbarton's prolific offense was held scoreless through two periods while firing 24 shots at Morristown-Beard goaltender Doug Taylor, who played a spectacular 45 minutes. Morristown-Beard (20-6-1) employed a 1-2-2 passive forecheck for most of the first two periods and kept Delbarton's forwards away from rebounds with sound coverage in its own end. But Bell, a senior forward, finally solved the puzzle 1:56 into the third when he took a pass from linemate Mike Smigelski, curled in the left circle and snapped a high shot that Taylor was unable to stop to give Delbarton (25-1-1) a 1-0 lead.
This year, the American people will choose between two diametrically ...
The Democratic Party looks at our nation and sees the twilight of the American soul. Republicans affirm that now, as throughout history, the spiritual and intellectual genius of the American people will create a better nation and maintain a just peace. To Republicans, creativity and growth are imperatives for a new era of opportunity for all. The Republican Party's vision of America's future, the heart of our 1984 Platform, begins with a basic premise: From freedom comes opportunity; from opportunity comes growth; from growth comes progress. This is not some abstract formula. It is the vibrant, beating heart of the American experience. No matter how complex our problems, no matter how difficult our tasks, it is freedom that inspires and guides the American Dream.

Sonic Foundry chief upbeat
Sonic Foundry officials say sales prospects for its Mediasite products are "absolutely terrific" and the Madison company expects to break even later this year. "Our customers love our technology. We have outstanding technology; it's the best in the market," chief executive officer Rimas Buinevicius told about 75 people at Sonic Foundry's annual shareholders meeting Thursday at Monona Terrace. Colleges and universities are Sonic's primary customers, including University of Michigan, Arizona State University, Stanford and Cornell. Mediasite feeds presentations over the Internet and archives them, and that's especially useful for students juggling work and family responsibilities, too, Buinevicius said. "Students want this technology, they need it," he said. "We think there's a huge market out there." .
