| Allton Starts Web Design Firm in Lake Saint Louis, MO
Michael Allton can still remember his first website. "It was 1997, and my mother had just formed a new non-profit organization in Norwalk, Ohio called Project Leadership. It was designed to promote leadership and community values and she wanted a website to help recruit members. I used FrontPage 97 and it was very basic, but it sparked my love for website design." Since then, Michael has come a long way. For several years, he designed websites for businesses and organizations in Ohio while with an IT Firm. Then, last year, after moving to Lake Saint Louis, he started his own design firm, Stadia Studio. "I wanted very much to get back into designing websites for small businesses," said Michael. "I've always enjoyed helping businesses grow, and having a great website is an integral part of that." Stadia Studio specializes in providing small businesses with complete web services including website design, hosting, search engine optimization and consulting.

Missionary food stories: Called — and served
Large corn or hominy, potatoes, carrots and a bit of grass (cut up like chives) is added. It is served as a soup, eaten with freshly baked bread and, of course, salsa. As a missionary I had a new "greenie" from South Jordan. We woke up that morning and went to our appointment, where patasca was being served. I gave him a taste from my bowl to see if he liked it. He said yes, so we asked for a bowl for him. After we left I asked him if he knew what he had just eaten. I told him what it was and that he shouldn't have any problem eating anything in the mission after that. Notes to Interviewers Should Go Beyond A Simple Thank You
A thoughtful follow-up carries as much clout as a cover letter, many experts say. Nearly nine out of 10 senior executives consider a written thank you influential in evaluating candidates, according to a 2007 survey of 150 respondents by Accountemps, a professional staffing service. Your post-interview correspondence should deliver a sales pitch far more compelling than a simple thanks. "Put a spin on it that acts in your favor,'' recommends Kate Wendleton, president of the Five O'Clock Club, a career-counseling network in New York. "An effective thank-you letter should hit every one of an employer's hot buttons," concurs Wendy Enelow, an author, trainer and career consultant in Coleman Falls, Va. You can hit those buttons by linking your skills to solving specific workplace problems that you learned about during interviews.
Could the Irish scupper the Lisbon Treaty?
While European politicians were most nervous about the prospect of a British referendum, an Irish “No" is not an impossibility. Of course, the Irish rejected the Nice treaty in 2001. The Irish government broadly blamed it on a lack of time spent campaigning and will not make the same mistake again. Although after the Nice “No" they were required to vote again, I am pretty sure that would be impossible in the current climate. So an Irish “No" would be a very serious business. It would surely kill off the treaty of Lisbon, as surely as the French and Dutch killed off the constitution. Which would leave the leaders of the EU is a very tricky position: would they really spend the next two years trying to tweak the text again so that it looked sufficiently different, to go through the whole process again? Rejection signs? Some are already suggesting the foundations for rejections are there.

Profile: Palo Altans for Government Effectiveness
Civic engagement didn't just pop onto the city's 2008 priority list. Since 2003, a group known as PAGE (Palo Altans for Government Effectiveness) -- created by current Mayor Larry Klein, architect John Northway and a core of other well-known locals -- has been working to promote respectful involvement with local government. The group emerged during a rancorous period in Palo Alto's political history, motivated by a divisiveness that had overcome civil civic processes, Klein and Northway said at the time. The group founders believed that effective engagement and dialogue would help the community address critical issues. In addition, PAGE has espoused a particular interest in involving and respecting staff members of local public agencies. In 2004, through a series of community meetings, the group developed a list of 13 "Guiding Principles for Palo Alto." Available as an appendix on PAGE's Web site, the principles include: "Be willing to compromise," "Build relationships ..." and "Once a solution is reached, support it and move on." In the spring of 2007, PAGE released the paper, "Building Civic Engagement and Social Capital in Palo Alto: Making a Good Community Better." It hosted two forums that spring on community building and interacting with the government.

Mansion 'mistake' piles the pressure on Barack Obama
He and his mother recieved death threats because Tavis Smiley criticized Obama for not coming to the event (unlike Sen. Clinton who was also invited). Death threats for an opinion !! It is a very frightening time in America and reminds me of the dangerous past leaders who whipped up hysterical masses and created chaos. .

Two major fast-food chains, Jack-In-the-Box and In-N-Out, said they would not use beef from Westland/Hallmark. The recall affects beef products dating back to February 1, 2006. Most of the beef has been eaten and officials say it's unlikely the remaining beef is tainted. No illness has been reported, but it wasn't properly inspected and therefore is unfit for human consumption.
